Power A has an impressive catalog of controllers available for Nintendo Switch, but this June, the third party accessory manufacturer is introducing a new design that’ll turn your world upside down by immortalizing everybody’s favorite evil doppelganger, Waluigi.
The pad is functionally similar to Nintendo’s Pro Controller, except for two mappable buttons found on the controller back. It connects to Switch consoles using Bluetooth 5.0 and features a rechargeable lithium ion battery, along with purple, yellow and white design accents sure to inspire oohs, ahhs and waas.
Notably, this controller doesn’t feature an infrared reader (IR) or support near field communication (NFC). There’s also no support for HD rumble.
Waluigi debuted as Wario’s doubles partner in the 2000 Nintendo 64 title Mario Tennis. Since then, he’s appeared in every Mario sports spinoff game and has become a mainstay of the Mario Party series. The tall, lanky villain has also amassed a cult following online—mostly thanks to the outcry surrounding his continued absence from the Super Smash Bros. playable roster.
Our Take: I own a Power A Switch controller and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Need extra devices for multiplayer sessions? Looking to add another option to your own Nintendo Switch controller suite? This is a great buy with a soon-to-be iconic design of your soon-to-be favorite Smash character (at this point, it’s inevitable).
