Bloodstained soundtrack coming to vinyl

Japanese music label Brave Wave and Japanese game developer ArtPlay are teaming up to bring the Bloodstained soundtrack to vinyl.

According to Brave Wave’s announcement, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night the Definitive Soundtrack will span four LPs and include 46 tracks from the 2019 game that appeared on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The $80 standard edition will be on black vinyl, while a $100 limited edition will be on colored vinyl (gold/silver/black/pink) and include a poster signed by game producer Koji Igarashi and composer Michiru Yamane. This edition will be available in America through Limited Run Games and internationally through BigWax.IO.

Pre-orders open sometime in February.

Brave Wave’s website describes the label as, “dedicated to exploring the interplay between videogames (sic), music and nostalgia.” So far, the label has released vinyl soundtracks for Shovel Knight, Art of Fighting, Street Fighter II and more.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a 2D platformer that incorporates the exploration, combat and progression elements that define its spiritual predecessor, Castlevania. Igarashi spearheaded many of Konami’s most popular Castlevania titles, and he’s incorporated that design philosophy into this new, Kickstarter-funded IP.

Reviews aggregate Metacritic rates Bloodstained’s PC and PS4 editions at 83/100, while its Xbox One iteration sits at 84/100. The Switch version scored lower due to game-breaking bugs present at the title’s launch, but recent patches have improved the game’s performance.
