Owls are often utilized in storytelling as symbols of sound knowledge and good advice, but this owl will lie to you. This owl just wants to eat your candy.
In the 1970s, commercials for Tootsie Pop featured a boy asking different animals how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. The cow recommends the clever fox, who recommends the old turtle, who recommends the wise owl. The wise owl steals the boy’s candy, eats it and offers an unfulfilling answer of, “Three.” It’s three because owls have beaks, but boys don’t have beaks, so it’s only three for the owl, so that information is useless.
