UPDATE: The 10 a.m. ET batches of River City Girls Classic Edition (Switch, PS4) and Revenant Dogma (Vita) have sold out. More will be available at 6 p.m. ET. Revenant Dogma for PS4 is still available.
Gamers can land special editions of the newest game in the River City Ransom family at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 30, thanks to Limited Run Games.
River City Girls turns the tables and introduces high school students Misako and Kyoko—girlfriends of River City Ransom protagonists Kunio and Riki—as heroines out to rescue their boyfriends. Gameplay recreates the classic River City beat ’em up mechanics and wraps them in a colorful, detailed pixel art style.
On Sept. 5, the title is set to launch digitally for $29.99 on Switch, Xbox One, Steam and PlayStation 4. Physical copies through Limited Run on Switch and PS4 are $34.99 and are available during an open pre-order that closes Sept. 27.
River City Girls is the latest release in the long-running Kunio-Kun franchise that includes River City Ransom and its bevy of sequels and spin-offs.

A Classic Edition of River City Girls is available for Switch and PS4 in limited quantities (2,500 were produced for each platform). They include memorabilia referencing the game, a heart locket, a poster, art cards, a commemorative retro cart (it doesn’t play) and special packaging. Both base Classic Edition copies of the game will include a two-disc CD soundtrack. The game’s soundtrack is also available on limited vinyl for $34.99.

Aug. 30 also sees the Limited Run release of Revenant Dogma in limited quantities on PlayStation Vita and PS4. Originally released on consoles in 2018, Revenant Dogma casts the player as the prince of humanity, who fails at becoming a soldier and instead becomes an artifact hunter. Batches will become available at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Limited Run’s website.
