Switch beat ’em up Wulverblade gets physical release thanks to Super Rare Games

At 1 p.m. ET, London-based publisher Super Rare Games will launch pre-orders for physical copies of Nintendo Switch beat ’em up Wulverblade.

Along with a Switch game card, the purchase will include a manual, slip cover, reversible art, sticker and pack of trading cards. The Super Rare printing of Wulverblade will consist of 5,000 region free copies and will ship July 22.

The game is approximately $32 USD.

First released in 2017, Wulverblade is a bloody beat ’em up inspired by genre staples like Final Fight and Streets of Rage. The hand-drawn art style presents an ancient Britain where natives defend their homeland from Roman invaders.

Wulverblade garnered positive reviews upon release, and has since been ported to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This is its first physical release.

Our Take

I’m a huge beat ’em up fan and I hold a degree in history. Wulverblade fills a void in an underserved genre and highlights an underserved story in western civilization—classes I’ve taken glossed over English history until feudalism begins to take hold of the country. I’m on board and already looking forward to getting my copy in the mail.
