Ten new titles announced for Sega Genesis Mini

Sega Genesis Classic replicates the original Genesis, first released to United States gamers in August 1989.

Sega’s Twitter account has announced ten more titles that will be included with the company’s Genesis Mini, currently scheduled to hit stores Sept. 19.

Titles include: Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, Beyond Oasis, Ghouls ‘N Ghosts, Golden Axe, Mega Man: The Wily Wars, Phantasy Star IV, Sonic Spinball, Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition, Vectorman and Wonder Boy in Monster World.

After today’s announcement, Sega has revealed 30 of the console’s 40 included games. If you’re already sold on the system, pre-orders are open through Amazon now. The $79.99 package includes the small replica of Sega’s first Genesis model, two three-button replica controllers, HDMI cable, power cord and adapter.

Our Take

Sega bringing this mini console’s development in-house is the best thing for their product and their fan base. The physical features of this console are spot-on, while the games list includes hard-to-find third party gems, as well as Sega’s timeless first party classics. On release day, we’ll be running to the store faster than Sonic chasing down a chili dog.
